We love our robotics teams, and our teams love us.

"Cyberkids is such a fantastic opportunity for our students. The kids love it! It's such a great way to get kids involved in the world around them. The students use their problem solving ability to create a solution to real-world problems. They also create their own unique presentation to express their ideas. This is a terrific program."

"Cyperkids Robotics is an amazing program -- so much more than what I thought in the beginning. The robotics competition teaches the kids organization, team building, computer programming, engineering, math, time managment and more! Elementary and Middle school students learn how to research real life problems and design solution projects and present to large audiences. This is THE program that will keep our kids interested and motivated to enter the science and technology fields in the future."

"The Cyberkids robotics program is an excellent way to motivate students to explore technology.  The team members learn valuable life skills such as teamwork, research and commuication skills. The students take pride in their work and can not wait for the next competition."

"Cyberkids is a positive school based program that teaches students to work together to pool their knowledge to solve problems.  As a parent and a teacher, I have watched my two children as well as several other students grow intellectually and socially.  My children learned the value of team work, how to logically think through problems, and how to persist in the face of obstacles.  My children were very excited to be part of such a wonderful opportunity.  They looked forward to every practice and had an awesome experience competing.  I believe the program taught my children valuable leadership and team work skills that they will be able to use for years to come.  I would recommend the Cyberkids program to anyone that wishes for their child to learn valuable skills as well as having an awesome, fun-filled time."

"During the 2009-2010 school year Monroe Middle School participated in the CyberKids Robotics program. It was indeed an experience for the students, their parents and the advisor. The students were able to incorporate 21st Century Skills such as staying focused, following directions, memorization, sequencing, problem solving, critical thinking, and perseverance. I look forward to Monroe Middle School "Robo-Redhawks:" participating next year."

"Hello, my name is Ramona Hemric and I am a teacher at Bethel Elementary in Watauga County, NC.  I have had the pleasure of working with eight wonderful students in the Cyberkids program this year.  Even though we had to cancel several practices due to inclement weather, these students faithfully stuck with the program and we went to the “Rookies” Lego state competition in January.  Below are some of my reflections about the experience.
  • I was proud of the way that all the teams including ours supported each other during the robotics competition.  Members clapped and cheered even when they were not directly involved.
  • It was amazing to see how other teams performed.  We learned from others.
  • Standing in line waiting to perform our research skit, we saw all kinds of creative costumes and props.
  • The high-level energy displayed continually in the robotics competition kept the students motivated and moving.  The referees were outstanding.
  • I truly enjoyed watching the team members trouble shoot.  In between rounds, our team would rush to a practice area until their time to compete came up again.
  • The judges were gracious.
  • The message was clear, “working hard and collaboratively pays off in the end”.
  • Being a “gracious participant” is the goal.

It was a long but memorable day for the “Bethel Bots”.  Even though the students ranged in age from 4th to 8th grade, had been up since four o’clock in the morning, and the weather almost held them back, they were a TEAM all day long."

"ElekTrojans:

To be honest, I was very intimidated when I was asked to help coach our school’s new robotics team.  It was presented to me as an opportunity to work with students to build and program a robot.  Using Legos to build a robot didn’t seem that far outside of my comfort zone, but I am no programmer and was very unsure about how I would be of any use to my students with that aspect of the project.  I apparently underestimated my students.  They didn’t need me to show them how to program their robot.  Instead, they taught me how to use the NXT language.  This is just one example of the opportunities my students had as members of our robotics team to demonstrate leadership.  The students also had to research a topic to be presented in some creative way to the judges at competition.  I merely facilitated their work.  They discussed the topic as team and from that discussion put together a plan to meet the requirements of the competition.  It was amazing to watch them work together to determine how they would fulfill these requirements.  As great as it was to watch them work together on this project, the most fulfilling part of my role as a coach, was watching the kids work together to plan, test, and run their missions.  They easily determined who would fill each position on our team by determining each other’s strengths.   Once they each knew what their role on our team was, they collaborated to successfully program several missions.  Working as a coach for this team was truly a privilege for me.  It was an opportunity as an educator to see students work together to reach a goal using the traits that we try to instill in them in school:  teamwork, determination, leadership, and perseverance."
